SMOKY QUARTZ Intersection of RT. 522 & RT.6
Goochland County, Virginia
A small "alpine like" seam of very well crystallized Quartz was uncovered during surface digging in November 2009. This small minature shows well developed lustrous and gemmy Smoky Quartz.

A rich reddish-brown Calcite twin. The primary crystals appear to be complex rhombohedrons with scalenohedral faces. The re-entrant twin plane shows at the top of the specimen. One of the best "floaters" from this find.

A thick, plate like arrangement of well formed crystals, original label says Jeffersonite. The "old" name for Augite. At least 18 crystals are present with semi-lustrous faces.
